General Technical Information

High-Pressure Die Casting

HPDC is a production method in which molten metal is introduced into a metal die under pressure and controlled through a repeatable production route.

HPDC is more than the casting cycle.

A complete industrial route can include feasibility review, engineering, tooling, sampling, validation, production approval, serial production, secondary operations and ongoing quality control.

What should a buyer evaluate?

  • Whether the component and requirements suit the proposed casting route
  • The supplier's documented press and casting range
  • The route from tooling to validation and approval
  • In-house and partner-managed downstream operations
  • Quality planning, measurement and process-control evidence
